Meursault "GRANDS CHARRONS" 2007 MAGNUM - Domaine Guy Bocard
Big cozy village Meursault begins a production area of very fine white wines, occupying the southern part of the Côte de Beaune. The vineyard is spread by gentle slopes, between 230 and 360 meters. The eastern orientation strongly supports maximum sunlight. Located ten kilometers south of Beaune, Meursault marks the beginning of the great white wines of Burgundy. Chardonnay is the grape of choice for these powerful wines, opulent and subtle. Family Guy Bocard Domain is located in the center of Meursault. Guy Bocard and daughter produce a rich and very sweet wine, with that touch of minerality that makes great Meursault. Based in Meursault for several generations, the area is one of the traditional areas that do not seek to take advantage of a trend or another, but to offer wines that their match. The estate's wines are not always ideal for wine tasting in their youth, but after a few years of bottles are clearly distinguished by their complexity, finesse and homogeneity.

While the August climate, cool and rainy , threatened the entire harvest , good weather in September helped save the vintage. Burgundy is doing barely ! Unfortunately, in many areas , the harvest was too early . Quality is thus heterogeneous . Some producers still produced a very good year for the price of a severe selection . In red, the best successes come from the Cote de Nuits ( Gevrey Chambertin, Nuits Saint -Georges , Vosne -Romanee ) . The wines are characterized by their fruity character , but their care capacity is limited. Note in white fine acidity unlike the 2006 vintage but they generally remain rather thin.
