Located northwest of the appellation, Sales of the castle is one of the finest in the region. It has the largest vineyard in Pomerol. The latter, the sandy-gravelly soil, provides soft and silky wine. Only a small portion of the wine is aged in barrels, the vintage is never aggressive nor too woody. This wine can be drunk young.

Vintage Description

A good vintage with a bountiful harvest. Often considered, wrongly, as lower than 1978 wines from this vintage are fruity and harmonious. From a good aging potential, fine wines are revealed today delicious, like Latour, Leoville Las Cases, Haut-Brion or the Mission Haut-Brion. Underestimated and undercut the 1979 vintage represents an excellent quality / price ratio. Sweet wines are balanced and of good quality.
