The Vaucrains is one of the wines of the golden triangle of Nuits-Saint-Georges with Quail and Porets. It will be the most elegant and masculine wines of Nuits-Saint-Georges. A must to be absolutely in the cellar for a long time. The wines of the area are built to Michelot custody but after decantation, they can also be enjoyed after a few years. Prices are relatively reasonable for the quality of wines on offer. 8 hectares vineyard estate located in Nuits-Saint-Georges, close to the town hall, right in the heart of Nuits-Saint-Georges. This is one of the flagship estate of the commune of Nuits. Even if Alain Michelot remains somewhat here at the estate, his daughter, Elodie, is basically the one in charge of the wines production. She joined the family estate in 1996, followed by her husband in 1998. Without losing the power that has established the estate reputation, the wines have gained in finesse and elegance. Even if they are best enjoyed when they are young, they need some time to become harmonious. The vineyard has a nice range of “Premiers Crus” (first growths) in Nuits-Saint-Georges and, since 2010, manages a parcel of Clos Vougeot.

Vintage Description

Especially a great vintage for red Côte de Nuits. In white, the Chardonnays of the Côte d'Or are better than those of Chablis. Spring had beautiful sunny periods. After July cool and rainy summer has really said in August with sometimes heat wave and high sunshine. Violent storms of rain and hail caused locally heavy damage in the vineyards. Due to a refreshing and low rainfall in early September, it took all due care and discernment winemakers to choose the best harvest date; Vinification were long and regular for white wines, more technical for red wines to extract the best potential dyestuffs and tannins. The white wines are well balanced with good fruit concentration and a well-developed set off by sustained acidity. They are frank and purposes. The red wines are brightly colored and good intensity. Their structure is affirmed by firm tannins and good acidity level. They are fleshy and fruity is nice and expressive. The wines of Gevrey-Chambertin and Vosne-Romanée are sublime.
